Jenn’s Apartment Bio

Jenn’s Apartment is a Lansing, Michigan rock power trio built for live rooms and loud singalongs. Their sound blends 90s alternative melody with the urgency of early 2000s punk and emo, tying together ringing guitars, big harmonies, and a rhythm section that hits hard and stays locked in.

Songwriter and guitarist Roy Kirby first formed Jenn’s Apartment in 2004. After an early run of releases and shows, the band returned in 2014 with bassist and producer Chris Davis and drummer Justin Pine, a Michigan State drumline alum. The trio has since kept a steady stream of EPs and full length records, played across Michigan, and earned local attention along the way. In 2019 they built their own studio so they could record and release music on their own schedule.

What sets Jenn’s Apartment apart is the contrast between sound and subject. The songs hit with bright, tuneful hooks and upbeat drive, while the lyrics tell stories that are more lived in than glossy, touching on divorce, addiction, and hard lessons without turning the set into a downer. It is honest, loud, and fun. For fans of The Replacements, Gaslight Anthem, Gin Blossoms, and Goo Goo Dolls.
